Now that you've virtually attended the Trail Mapping with onX Offroad (Beginner's Course) Class, it's time to put your skills to the test! We will meet at the Marathon Gas Station in Yankee Springs like we normally do for Yankee Trail Rides. There will be a driver's meeting promptly at 8:30 AM to go over the scavenger hunt, and the ride will start at approximately 9 AM. The ride/scavenger hunt will need to be completed by Noon, because we will all head over to Yankee Bills for lunch afterwards at our Club's Monthly Meet & Greet! This may seem like a lot, but it should be pretty simple, easy, and fun. Here's the plan. The point of the scavenger hunt is to utilize the onX Offroad App on your smartphone or similar device (ipad, tablet, etc) to navigate your way around the trails at yankee springs to find specific waypoints. There is a link in this description that will contain everything needed on the app for the scavenger hunt. If you're unable to get the link to show the scavenger hunt waypoints and trail map, please let me know, and I will help to resolve this issue. I will give everyone at the driver's meeting an instruction sheet with all of these details. There will be 5 legit waypoints out on the trails you're searching for in order to locate the final waypoint. There are also MANY decoyed waypoints within this file as well. The way you find each legit waypoint is by solving 2 riddles (1 for color, 1 for icon). If you're color blind, let us know ahead of time, or bring someone that can help you with colors. The icon names and symbols will be on the back of the instruction sheet just like you'll see on the app. Be careful, because if you don't solve the riddles for each waypoint correctly, you may navigate yourself to a decoy waypoint (which will only cause you to finish slower and have to navigate to the correct waypoint). I will give you your 1st waypoint's riddles at the end of the driver's meeting. Solve each riddle to properly locate the correct waypoint to navigate to on the onX Offroad App. BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE GAS STATION, be sure to start recording your track. If you don't record your track starting from the gas station, you will be disqualified at the end of the hunt and unable to win prizes. You will still receive the discount code for participating. At each legit waypoint you find, there will be a tote with a GRJC (616Jeeps) decal on it. The tote will also have code numbers on the tote itself. That's part of the challenge. Be sure to write down the code numbers to solve the puzzle to locate the final waypoint. Inside each tote will have your next riddle to solve. Solve the riddle to locate the next waypoint. When you've been to the 5 waypoints (DON'T LOSE TRACK), decipher the code numbers from each waypoint to form 2 words which will be a waypoint on the map (1 color, 1 icon) that will give you your final waypoint. When you reach the final waypoint, you have solved the puzzle! The 1st Jeep that solves the puzzle correctly, shows their recorded track, and describes each waypoint will win our grand prize. The remaining Jeeps that solve the puzzle correctly, show their recorded track, and describes each waypoint will have their names entered into a hat for prizes that will be given away at Yankee Bills during lunch at the Meet & Greet & Noon. Prizes will be given away until we run out. DON'T FORGET TO GET CHECKED-IN AT YANKEE BILLS FOR YOUR EVENT TICKETS FOR THE ANNUAL PICNIC TOO! Everyone that participates in the scavenger hunt will receive a 30% off discount code for an onX Offroad Elite Membership after the scavenger hunt is over. If you're unable to complete the scavenger hunt before noon, please make your way to Yankee Bills located on your map as Waypoint "Yellow Restroom". We will be picking up the totes starting at Noon and meet everyone at Yankee Bills afterwards for prize giveaways. If you end up lost and ultimately need help, feel free to radio over GMRS, Channel 21, or call Kyle Kelly on his cell (812) 584-5163, and he'll help navigate or come find you as needed. Also if you have any questions, feel free to use the GMRS radios to ask Kyle questions. Please don't cheat. Try to use your navigation skills to find these waypoints. That's the whole point of this scavenger hunt in the first place.
